Run, Forrest, Run

“I started running last week,” I said, a little proud.

My doctor paused and asked, “Do you like running?” I hesitated. “…not really.” And just like that, the moment shifted—not into encouragement, but into reflection. Because the real question wasn’t about running.

It was this: How often are we doing things because they’re effective… instead of because we actually enjoy them?

Running is great for some people. But for me, I’d rather take a long walk, feel the breeze, talk too much, and let my kids ride their bikes a little longer. And maybe that counts just as much.

Because what we enjoy… we sustain.
