I looked up and realized I was standing just a few feet away from Teyana Taylor—wearing her A Rose From Harlem Jordans that day. The ones I don’t wear often, but for some reason, felt right that morning.

We locked eyes. I pointed to my shoes. We smiled.

And then she walked over.
